Breastfeeding Support Group
Do you have questions regarding breastfeeding? Colorado Plains Medical Center has a Breastfeeding Support Group that meets at CPMC's Paul E. Woodward Birthing Center every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The group is led by a team of experienced obstetric nurses including Renee Sperry, BSN, RN, CLC and Debra Tolson, RN, BSN, ICCE, IBCLC, CPST. They can answer breastfeeding questions, trobuleshoot breastfeeding issues, and assist with latch and positioning. Your Lactation Team
Need help with breastfeeding or using your breast pump? Our lactation team can help. The lactation counselors are health professionals who specialize in the clinical management of breastfeeding and who have received advanced training and certification. They work alongside our Lactation Consultant who is board certified through the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. Together, they can work with you and your baby on breastfeeding positions, proper latch technique, and address any questions or challenges you face.
Debra Tolson, BSN, RN, ICCE, IBCLC, CPST, is a seasoned OB nurse at Colorado Plains Medical Center with 33 years of nursing experience. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Texas Women's University, she knew that taking care of babies and mothers were her calling. She has been one of the area's only practicing lactation consultants since 2010.
Renee Sperry, BSN, RN, CLC, is an OB nurse with a Bachelor's in Nursing and currently works at Colorado Plains Medical Center. Renee has nine years of nursing experience and successfully breastfed three boys. She cherishes the ability to work with mothers and babies and has a passion for working with teen moms.
