Wickham Receives CPMC 2010 Exceptional Service & Achievement Award

Howard Wickham, local businessman and community supporter, was recognized by Colorado Plains Medical Center as the 2010 Exceptional Service & Achievement Award recipient.
The hospital established the award four years ago to recognize community citizens who have shown commitment to the health care field, have contributed to the health and success of the hospital and community, and have demonstrated the spirit of generosity and kindness through contributions of time, money, and encouragement.

According to Martha Bieber, CPMC Governing Board President, “His tireless commitment and patience to the hospital community is exhibited by his efforts to have meaningful dialogue with East Morgan County Hospital board members.  He serves on the Healthcare Horizon Council and has often expressed his pride at being associated with such a fine hospital, staff, and management company.”

Wickham originally became involved with the hospital through serving on the Fort Morgan Community Hospital Foundation board where he helped manage the Foundation’s portfolio and endowment fund.  He later served as President of the board.  When a vacancy on the Fort Morgan Community Hospital Association’s board became available, Wickham indicated that he would like to continue his service to the hospital.  Two years ago he stepped into the leadership role of the Association by becoming President.

Wickham has also given his time and attention to other worthwhile community organizations, such as the Fort Morgan Chamber of Commerce (where he served on the board of directors); Tinker’s Dream, a local outfit that offers dog training classes at no charge to members of the community; and the Annual Case IH Scholarship Tractor Auction benefiting Colorado Young Farmers.

“It is this spirit of giving and championing that makes Howard an ideal recipient of the Exceptional Service and Achievement award,” notes Mike Patterson, Chief Executive Officer of Colorado Plains Medical Center.

Each fall CPMC solicits nominations from the community for the award and a committee comprised of hospital administration members and employees makes the final selection from the submitted nominations.

Past recipients of the award have included Mike Chabot, former plant manager of the Fort Morgan Cargill Meat Solutions plant; Dr. Bentley Tate, CPMC emergency room medical director and physician; and Dr. Pat and Kathy Thompson, trustees of the Williams Family Foundation.
