Dr. Ahmad Shihabi Elected to Fellowship

Dr. Ahmad Shihabi, cardiologist, at Colorado Plains Heart & Lung Center was recently elected to fellowship in the American College of Cardiology. As a newly elected Fellow of the College, Dr. Shihabi has been invited to a convocation ceremony at the 56th Annual Scientific Session in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 26 to receive his certificate and be recognized by other Fellows of the ACC.

“This is an outstanding achievement and honor for Ahmad,” notes Dr. Scott Faulkner, Chief of Staff, at Colorado Plains Medical Center. “The medical staff at Colorado Plains Medical Center has recognized his abilities and value as a clinician since his arrival in Fort Morgan, and we are elated that fellow cardiologists also recognize his contributions to the medical field.”

Dr. Shihabi joined Dr. Khalid Ismail, Pulmonologist and Critical Care specialist, in August of 2005 to open Colorado Plains Heart & Lung Center. As a cardiologist, Dr. Shihabi treats problems of the cardiovascular system. This includes detecting and caring for individuals experiencing heart attacks, angina, palpitations, stroke and high blood pressure. He also can perform diagnostic procedures including cardiac catheterizations.

Colorado Plains Heart & Lung Center recently signed an agreement with the Medical Center of the Rockies – Poudre Valley Health System, to perform diagnostic cardiac cath procedures in Fort Morgan later this year.

Dr. Shihabi earned his undergraduate degree and his doctor of medicine degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Jordan. His internal medicine residency was completed at the University of Iowa and at the University of Illinois. He recently finished his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Minnesota.
